Sunpaw yawned as he woke, the sun shinning bright onto his golden-tan coat, his odd but unique markings sparkling. He got up and stretched, looking around at the apprentices filling the den. Brindlepaw, Snowpaw and Goldenpaw, none of us being related. He was the only tom in the den, he was surrounded with she-cats talking all day, oh well, he was never bothered by it, he's always been surrounded by she-cats since his father died. He picked his way across the floor of the den, finally reaching the entrance, leaving the other three sleeping. He looked around, not many cats were up yet. He sighed, wanting to go hunting, instead he picked up a fish from the fresh-kill pile and sat down, waiting to see movement stirring in the dens.

Goldenpaw woke shortly after Sunpaw. She stood up and shook moss and brown and red leaves from her bright gold pelt. She walked out of the apprentices den walking around her sleeping denmates. She walked out of the camp without even acknowledging that Sunpaw was there. She had thought of her and Sunpaw being sort of like friends but she also knew that she and Sunpaw could never be friends.

Sunpaw yawned as he saw Goldenpaw come out of the apprentice's den. She didn't even seem to notice he was their. He tilted his head and just pushed it off, taking a few bits of his fish. The sun didn't last for long though, before she knew it the small icey droplets of rain started falling down. He hissed, he was never one for rain, even though he was in StreamClan. He picked up his fish and scurried over to the apprentice's den, taking shelter in the small cave of the den.

Goldenpaw purred when the icy rain started to fall. She loved rain and even though Streamclan was almost wiped out she would never stop loving it. SHe headed towards a stream and looked into the water. No matter how hard she tried she would never be a warrior. No matter how hard she tried Torchstar would never notice her abilities, just Snowpaws.

After he finished his fish he poked his head out of the den, most of the warriors had woken and were eating before going on the normal patrols. He couldn't see Goldenpaw's bright fur, he cocked his head and wondered where she went. He stepped outside, ears flattened against his pelt. The rain soon soaked him, his pelt became plastered to his sides, his paws mucky like the ground- He stopped dead. He looked below, the ground had a thin layer of rain covering it, now that he realized it... He raised his head towards the sky, the rain was rushing down, quite quickly. The rain had formed a thin layer of water covering the whole ground... If that's how it was on higher lands...
His eyes widened he ran from where he stood, kicking up mud behind him, he dashed out of camp, following her scent, he had to get to her in time!

Goldenpaw walked along the river, her head held high. She was being so stubborn at this point that she hadn't noticed the water reaching her underbelly. She continued to walk with her eyes closed and fur sticking to her. Pretty soon the water was up to her shoulder blades.

The rain began to beat heavier down, clinging to his pelt, making him heavier as he ran. His paws were doused in mud, his whole body hurting from the run. As he neared the river he tried to stop, skidding and sliding in the mud. He was panting heavily as he looked down the riverbank, his head flickering back-and-forth, trying to find her gold fur.

Goldenpaw finally noticed the water and tried to get away quickly. It wasn't long before she was dragged away by the rivers strong current. "Help!" She screamed. Before she knew it she passed Sunpaw. "Help!" She called to him. Goldenpaw started to shiver. She was barely floating, tired, and freezing. She needed help and fast.

Sunpaw's eyes widened in terror as he saw Goldenpaw get swept passed him by the strong river waves, he looked down at the water, now lapping his paws from the flooding. He took a deep breath and pushed off the muddy earth, plunging towards the icey water. He landed in the middle of the river, and was quickly swept under by the waves. He coked underwater, knowing he might die, right now, if he didn't do something... Death wouldn't be that bad, away from this cruel world...
But then Goldenpaw came into his mind, her light eyes filled with sorrow and tears. He knew he couldn't give up now. He pushed as hard as he could, rising towards the air, and Goldenpaw. He broke the surface and coughed harshly, getting as much water as he could out. He heard her crying for help from farther down the flood when he realized that he was being swept down too. He somehow gained the courage to start churning his paws. [/blockquote]

Goldenpaw became slightly happy when Sunpaw came in after her. Who wouldn't? A handsome tom throwing themselves into a river to save you. The last thing she saw before she was pulled under the water was Sunpaw. She tried to swim but the current was to strong. She closed her eyes and waited for death to come, or Sunpaw.

Sunpaw prayed that StarClan wouldn't take her as she went under, it wasn't her time, he couldn't let her die! She churned his paws stronger, fighting the crashing waves and the aching trying to take his body. As he neared the place where she went under, he took a huge, deep breath and dived under the surface...
Once under water he opened his eyes, it stung but he knew he could only find her this way. He saw her floating dormantly just a little ways ahead, she look unhealthily still... He churned his paws even harder, around and around, trying to save her. Once he got to her he didn't hesitate, he grabbed her fur with his mouth, letting his air supply out. He got very dizzy and felt like he was about to be knocked out, but he knew he had to save her! [/blockquote]

Goldenpaw felt something pulling her up. Well more like someone! She soon resurfaced with Sunpaws help. When he brought her out of the water she started to cough, a lot. She looked at Sunpaw. "Thank you. I owe you." She said before she started to cough more. But this time little drops of blood could be seen getting coughed onto the ground before being washed away by the rain. Goldenpaw tried to stand but collapsed. The last thing she saw before she passed out was Sunpaw, a very brave and handsome apprentice that had just saved her life.

Sunpaw breathed heavily when he finally dragged her on the shore, beside the water's edge. He had saved her, but she wasn't safe yet... The water would soon rise again and take them away, but he didn't have enough strength to drag her farther away... This might be the end... he thought, collapsing beside her.
"Sunpaw!" His head shot up at the sudden exclaiming of his name being called. He lifted his vision blurry farther up the bank, and he saw a little plump white apprentice hurrying down to them. "What happened?!" She called, her voice filled with worry. "Is she dead?" She asked, her blue eyes wide, as she came closer, slowing her pace.
"No.. Passed out..." He said in between coughs. "I-I can't carry her away fro-m the s-shoreline." He was choking badly now.
She nodded, grabbing her scruff. "Can you walk?" She asked through Goldenpaw's fur. He nodded weakly, pulling himself up, stumbling away from the rising river. [/blockquote]

Brindlepaw blinked open her eyes with a huge yawn, and quickly spotted that she was the only one left in the apprentice's den. Is it that late already? She though silently. She got up, stretched, and let her still-sleepy paws carry her out of the den. She looked around the almost empty clearing, untill her eyes found the fresh-kill pile. It was practically empty... Maybe she could go and hunt..? With someone? She hated hunting alone.

Redclaw walked into camp and dropped the few mice he had caught onto the fresh kill pile. The camp was strangly quiet, even with the rain pouring down upon them. He looked around, but the only cat he spotted was Brindlepaw. Where are all the apprentices? That must be why it was so quiet. No noisy apprentices chasing each other's tails. But where had they gone? He couldn't remember passing them, but it seemed that they had evapourated. "Brindlepaw!" he called across the clearing. He trotted over to the young she-cat. "Where are your denmates? Not out in this, are they?"

Sunpaw and Snowpaw made their way slowly back to camp, after the seemingly forever travel, they made it close to camp, just outside. His paws had mud dousing them again, his ears hurt from the constant shatter of rain falling on him. Goldenpaw looked almost dead, but he knew he didn't save himself and her just to see her life leak away...
"R-ready." He gasped, knowing what Snowpaw's gaze meant, she nodded smally then placing one paw in front of the other headed towards the entrance.

Brindlepaw shrugged. "They're not in the den, so they might be." Brindlepaw thought for a moment, then added. "Can I go hunting?" She couldn't stand just sitting in camp, rain or not. Besides, the rain didn't have to be a bad thing.

Redclaw took in a breath, thinking. "All right," he said finally, "But be careful and keep a lookout for them." He looked at the gray sky that appeared to be getting lighter. He thought he was imagining it though, because the rain fell as strong as ever. "And don't go near the stream. It's probably swollen."

Brindlepaw broke into a smile, the nodded vigorously. She quickly bounded way from camp into their territory. It was pouring rain, but she ignored it. She was happy to be away from the confined camp. She ran for a little while, before tiring and stopping.

Sunpaw stumbled into the clearing and somehow onto Redclaw. "Redclaw, help her!" He gasped, collapsing at the warrior's paws, breathing heavily. He closed his eyes, only wanting to keep holding on to see if Goldenpaw was going to be okay. [/color]
